Research & Teaching
Research areas of the Department of Physics of the
University of the Beira Interior include, Particle Physics,
Astrophysics and Cosmology, Optometry and Optics.
LAG – Astrophysics and Gravitation Laboratory is a research centre founded
in 1998.
LIP is a private society without profit,
which gathers people from all over the country, in particular from Universidade
da Beira Interior, in Covilhã, from Instituto Superior Técnico and Faculdade de Ciências in Lisboa, from
Faculdade de
Ciências e Tecnologia in Coimbra and from Universidade do
Algarve, in Faro. LIP
members participate in 20 experiments,
of which 9 are performed at CERN.
Centro de
Óptica is a research center founded in 1994, which main
purpose is research and technological development in Optics and
Analysis and Characterization of Materials.
