The
Laboratory for High Energy Physics (LHEP)
is a division of the
Physics Institute
at the
University of Bern,
Switzerland.
We conduct research in the field of experimental particle physics. The three main subjects are:
- high-energy collider physics
- neutrino physics
- development of novel particle detectors
The LHEP participates in the following international experiments:
ATLAS,
DIRAC,
OPERA,
T2K.
The LHEP has also been involved in experiments on low energy QCD studies, search for dark-matter,
strange-matter, quark-gluon plasma, etc.
The
Physics Institute
further comprises the Institutes for
Climate and Environmental Physics (KUP),
and the
Space Research & Planetary Sciences (WP).
The members of the
Physics Institute,
the Institute for Applied Physics,
the Institute for Theoretical Physics
and the Institute for Astronomy
offer the lecture series
leading to a Bachelor, Master and PhD degree
in physics at the University of Bern.
