Research at the Faculty of Physics at RWTH Aachen University focuses on Particle Physics, Condensed Matter, Astrophysics and Theoretical Physics.

The III. Physics Institute A contributes to the experiments CMS at CERN (Geneva/Switzerland), DØ at FERMILAB (Chicago/USA) and the Pierre Auger Observatory (Argentina) by developing and building particle detectors, computing hardware, software systems to control the detectors and to analyze the data via the Grid.

The members of the Institute provide various lectures and lab courses in Experimental Physics and Particle Physics as part of the physics courses (B. Sc. and M. Sc.). The Graduate School "Elementary Particle Physics at the TeV Scale" offers grants to students working on their doctoral thesis in experimental or theoretical Particle Physics.
