The research field of the group
is in the area of experimental
particle physics.
The aim of our work is to explore new physics in high energy reactions of elementary particles. Using accelerators, like the
Large Hadron Collider
(LHC) at
CERN
we want to discover new forces or new types of matter. Together with
new measurements in astophysics there is great hope to uncover
in the coming years the physical processes right after the big bang and
to gain a better understanding of the nature of the dark matter and
energy in the universe.
We are member of the
Atlas Experiment
in Geneva and the
D0 Experiment
in Chicago. Furthermore we work at the
COMPASS Experiment
to study the structure of the proton and at the
CAST experiment.
With the
Atlas Experiment
we study proton proton reactions at energies of 14 TeV. In this way we can explore a
completely new energy range which offers the possibilities for new discoveries. A
theory group
works on the theoretical fundaments of
particle physics.
