The High energy physics institute of the  Universiteit van Amsterdam is part of Nikhef, the National Institute for Subatomic Physics. At Nikhef one designs and constructs (parts of) detectors for experiments which are carried out at the  particle accelerator centra, like CERN (Geneva), but also  DESY (Hamburg) and  USA.
There is an intensive contact with high schools via the  HISPARC project  and many   small projects are offered.
