Particle Physics Researchers at UC Irvine are engaged in theoretical research in a broad range of areas in particle physics,
astroparticle physics, and cosmology. These include electroweak symmetry breaking, supersymmetry, extra dimensions, grand
unified theories, neutrinos, flavor physics and CP violation, astroparticle physics, dark matter and dark energy, cosmology,
string theory, and quantum gravity.
Experimental Particle Physics Research is multifaceted at both UC Irvine and UCLA. A sample of the experimental areas and
experiments includes:
- Neutrino physics - AMANDA, Super Kamiokande, and MINERVA
- B physics - BABAR
- Collider physics at the energy frontier - ATLAS and CMS at CERN; D-Zero and CDF at Fermilab
- Particle astronomy - MILAGRO
