The Particle Physics research group at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez is composed of three professors and
several graduate students in the Masters program. The main experimental efforts of the group are on CMS at CERN in collaboration with
Fermilab and CLEO at Cornell University.
UPRM maintains a thriving
particle physics outreach program through its QuarkNet center. Teachers from across the island work together at Mayaguez and
elsewhere to study particle physics, cosmic ray physics, and physics education. The UPRM QuarkNet teachers actively bring
bring these areas of development to their students.
